Biography

North Innsbruck music and style manifests in the obscure space between DarkSynth, Synthwave and Post-Punk. Since the release of their 2020 debut album A Delicate Balance followed by 2023’s Mind Bender, Minnesota based artist, multi-instrumentalist and producer Chris Emblom has become a force in Minnesota music. Boldly fierce and more haunting than the Synthwave artists he’s often paired with, North Innsbruck is an aural horror-show, driving listeners to the edge of their seats.

In addition to being a contrbuting member to the global Synthwave scene, North Innsbruck is also a founder of Nitrowave Twin Cities (NitrowaveTC), a Minneapolis based community of local artists and musicians. Initially concieved and executed in 2019, NitrowaveTC was built on the shoulders of collective ideas, peer support, open communication and shared creative goals to expand the local electronic music scene. To date NitrowaveTC has organized or sponsored close to 30 local and regional concerts.

Over the last 6 years North Innsbruck has also contributed to many local and global events including but not limited to Synth Valley Stream Fest (CA), Neon Rose Festival (OR), Terminus Retrowave (GA) as well as performances opening for national acts at famed Minnesota venues Turf Club (St. Paul, MN) and 7th Street Entry/First Avenue (Minneapolis, MN) known for it’s appearance in 80s blockbuster film Purple Rain.
